UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant has been recognized as a global success story for tackling climate change through the UAE’s Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme. The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has now passed the halfway mark for full commercial operation of the Plant, and Units 1 and 2 are both producing clean electricity every day. When fully operational, the Plant will provide 25 percent of the UAE’s electricity needs, without emitting any carbon emissions.

Al Hammadi places 11th in 100 Most Powerful Arabs 2022 reportMohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, ENEC’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, has recently been ranked 11th in Gulf Business’ 100 Most Powerful Arabs 2022 report. Al Hammadi has led the development of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme and the Barakah Plant since its inception.

ENEC has showcased a new model for new nuclear developments with Barakah being one of the most successfully managed and cost-effective nuclear energy projects in the world. Clean electricity is a key geopolitical asset for the UAE, and the Plant showcases how the UAE is diversifying its energy portfolio and achieving Net Zero. UAE nuclear power helps support energy security, decarbonize the power sector, and tackle climate change.
